Movie Goers tell Hollywood what they think through texting
Through text theatre goers get a chance to tell Hollywood what they think, while becoming eligible for rewards and possible prizes.

Holiday movies are intertwined with the celebration of the winter holidays in the United States. The holiday movie season is underway and many consumers are finding an escape from the economic pressures and holiday hustle and bustle with a movie.  Hollywood is tapping the power of mobile marketing and SMS to put more people in theatre seats, adding an interactive element to this tinsel town tradition.

The Cinevoter promotion invites movie goers at more than 3, 600 Cinemark screens in 38 states to pick up their cell phone or mobile device and let Hollywood know what they think!

Portable Research’s Debbie Kreger is using text as a component in a campaign that is proving to be a big hit with moviegoers.  “Promotional materials in theatre lobbies invite movie goers to text to take part in the survey about the movie experience and become eligible for contests and games,” explained Kreger.  “Of the movie patrons who text us, forty percent are following through and taking the survey,” she added. 

This forty percent of patrons who are taking part in the survey represent more than an impressive response rate.  The mobile component in the survey process gives the patrons a way to have their say about the movie going experience.  This exciting interactive component allows theatre goers to tell Hollywood what they think, while becoming eligible for rewards and possible prizes.  Cinemark patrons who complete the survey after their movie receive discounts on concessions for future visits to a Cinemark theatre and become eligible for sweepstakes prizes that include electronics and gift cards.
