Consumers are Cutting Back—but not on Mobile Services

The tanking economy is forcing a lot
of changes in consumer habit. One
is increase in the number of households cutting the cord on their landline telephone service, cutting cable, and other extras. But it seems there is one area where they are not willing to budget…
their cell phone service!
A survey by BIGresearch reveals 64 percent of consumers are not willing to give up their mobile device. The research for the National Retail Federation was conducted Dec. 16-18, also found that more women than men believe cell phone service is an essential item – 70 percent to 57.8 percent.
Consumers are much more willing to give up luxury handbags, satellite radio, specialty shopping for apparel, high-end cosmetics, maid service and facials, however according to the BIGresearch survey.
